A Miami couple are demanding that a Miami-Dade police officer be held accountable after the officer deliberately delayed his trip to the ER.
Kevin Enciso and his pregnant wife Sabrina Enciso rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital West Campus on July 28 after they started having pain.
Sabrina reported that she had been involved in a car accident the day before and her doctor advised her to go to the emergency room if she started to feel pain.
When the couple drove to the hospital, they found themselves trapped behind a police car which was parked at a stop sign.
Kevin told reporters he honked his horn once to let the officer know they were behind him.
The officer, however, stood still at the stop sign. Kevin says he honked his horn again after several minutes and that’s when the officer turned the situation into a traffic stop.
In the video, you can see the officer questioning the couple before telling Kevin to get out of the car.
The officer then turned the office of the vehicle while Sabrina sat inside.
The couple had a confrontation with the policeman who refused to let them through to the emergency room.
The officer eventually called the fire department to check on the woman as the couple stood just yards from the emergency door.
She was finally able to get to the emergency room when firefighters informed the officer that her blood pressure was extremely high and could be fatal to the baby.
The couple say they were hospitalized for several hours before being allowed to go home.
The Miami-Dade Police Department said it is aware of the video and has launched an internal affairs investigation.
