Monique Lhuillier Pottery Barn Kids Nursery Room Collection
If you have ever spent time dreaming about your wedding, then you know the name Monique Lhuillier. But if you’ve never had the chance to walk down the aisle in one of the wedding designer’s gorgeous dresses, there’s always a good chance you own something so beautiful. Or, at least, your kids can.
In his first foray into children’s furniture, Lhuillier launched a 120-piece capsule collection with Pottery Barn Kids that captures its romantic aesthetic with a youthful touch.
So how did she make the transition? All fashion designers need inspiration, and Lhuillier looked no further than his two children, Jack and Sophia.
“I was inspired by my own experience as a mother, creating serene and magical nurseries and rooms for my children,” she told POPSUGAR. “Loved the decorating process of their two rooms.”
The range includes fabrics and materials suitable for a special occasion but functional enough for reality. Among the quilted cribs, playroom ready toys, and even some clothing in the form of tulle tutus, she and her children have certain preferences.
“My favorites are the butterfly chandelier designed to resemble a draped pearl necklace, the tuft of lamb, and the designer dolls – they all give a hint of whimsy,” she told us. “The serene colors of the rugs add the finishing touch to a quiet, peaceful room. My daughter, Sophia, adores all stuffed animals, and my son Jack’s favorite is the leather club chair.”
Despite Lhuillier’s sophisticated styling, the collection – which is launching today online and in stores nationwide – isn’t meant to look like a wedding planner who has taken over the nursery.
“As a parent, I think it’s important to create a space that reflects your child’s personality, inspires creativity and brings a sense of calm to the energetic lifestyle that parents and children lead,” a- she declared. “Becoming a parent is a very moving life event that allows you to see life through your child’s eyes. “
