Dacia Jogger wins a camper kit and a retractable tent as factory accessories

Dacia has unveiled a camper van conversion kit for the Jogger which will be available as a factory accessory in 2023, broadening the field of use of the affordable crossover station wagon. The kit includes a foldable double bed in the car, a storage box and a retractable tent in the back that is suitable for a family of four.

The kit was presented at a special event alongside the debut of the Dacia Manifesto EV off-road concept and the presence of the entire model range with the new logo, colors and brand identity. Likewise, the Jogger converted into a motorhome sports the revised grille with the new Dacia emblem.

A wooden box with DC lettering was added to the Jogger’s trunk, limiting the interior layout to five seats, with the third row removed altogether. Inside the box there is plenty of room for luggage and equipment for outdoor activities. Above, a three-piece mattress unfolds after folding the rear bench seat, effectively transforming the Jogger’s cabin into sleeping space. This is made possible by the significantly increased cabin length of the Jogger and the slightly increased roof height compared to the brother Sandero Stepway.

Unfortunately, Dacia’s kit does not include amenities like a kitchenette or fridge. There is, however, plenty of additional space for a living area, thanks to a huge retractable tent at the rear. This mounts to the Jogger’s open trunk, using the vehicle as an additional bedroom. The company didn’t go into specifics, but said the tent/vehicle combo can accommodate a family of four.

Dacia had been promising a camping-friendly Jogger since last April, and now they’re ready to bring it to market from next year. The cost of the accessories will be announced later, but judging by the brand strategy, we expect it to be quite affordable. Remember, a few weeks ago a similar kit with more features was presented by the independent company Camperiz, so Dacia Jogger owners who love camping already have two options to choose from.

Optimistic for the future

Dacia has been part of the Renault group for 18 years and has sold a total of 7.5 million cars during this period. Today, the brand is entering a new era, retaining its value for money character by focusing on the essentials, while trying to increase its appeal and desirability through design.

Dacia has already incorporated its new logo and brand identity into its current model range and dealerships. At the same time, it is preparing to unveil new models in the compact segment, including the next generation Duster. Dacia has confirmed that the new version of the popular SUV is coming soon, with a rugged nature and extensive use of recycled materials (20% vs. 12%). It also announced a new smartphone app with suggestions for Dacia owners on when and where to take a break.
