A Hertford nursery celebrates children’s art week

Preschoolers at River View Day Nursery in Hertford were thrilled to show off their creativity by taking part in a series of activities to celebrate Children’s Art Week.

From researching famous artists and their iconic working styles to creating their own masterpieces, children at Ofsted-listed ‘Outstanding’ daycare on North Road immerse themselves in every occasion at offer, while experimenting with a range of techniques and materials. along the way, including making their own chalk paint.

As part of the learning experience, children had the chance to recreate an array of renowned large-scale paintings, including Vincent Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” on foil, circular-style paintings Kandinsky and a giant composition by Piet Mondrian. , as well as making Picasso plasticine faces and viewing paintings of their wildflower garden.

River View Day Nursery Team Leader Susan Moses said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating Children’s Art Week and were so impressed with the creations produced by our talented young artists.

“These activities are great for helping develop fine motor skills, as well as helping with concentration and self-expression, we hope they will also encourage a lasting love of art within the group.”
